connections_logo.pngOn April 7, IBM released the new version 3.0.1 of Lotus Connections. The main changes are the introduction of extended moderation capabilities, a new media galery and the new Ideation blog. In addition, the new version features the integration in enterprise content management (ECM) systems.
The new moderation capabilities enables a community owner to pre- and post-moderate content. When using the pre-moderation feature, owners can accept or reject content, before it appears in the community. Using post-moderation users can flag content as inappropriate. Community owners may then review the flagged content and delete them, if it is necessary. Moderation is available for blogs, files, comments and forum posts.

The new media galery simplyfies the use of images and videos. Users can upload the files, which will be shown as thumbnails. Additional information about the last version of the file or the number of downloads will be seen with the thumbnails. You can also comment on the uploaded files.

A new feature was created using existing components. The ideation blog ist a blog that can be added to your community. Community members may write ideas into that blog and can discuss them with other users. By integrating the ideation blog with activities, you can start a workflow directly connected to an idea in order to get work on the idea started.

The integration with ECM systems is limited to the FileNet Content Manager and the IBM Content Manager. It is possible to access files stored on thoses systems directly from the community.
